Cedar City has a Sheep Parade. In this annual event, men and dogs herd about 1,000 sheep right down Main Street.
There’s probably a metaphor there. I’ll let you know when I figure it out.
I’ve actually been plotting out a new YA story that takes place in a town much like Cedar City, Utah. It won’t actually be Cedar City, but I really like the idea of the sheep parade and everything that goes along with it. (I’m talking, of course, about the sheep tunnel that goes under I-15.) So in order to know what I’m talking about, I had to attend the Sheep Parade and take some pictures. We’ll see how closely this ends up matching what happens in the book I’m planning.
